Tomson Films Co., Ltd. was established in 1984. Its founder Hsu Feng, a famous actress, played various roles in about 50 films and had received many awards for her fine performance. In 1975, A Touch of Zen, her first movie as the leading actress, was the first Chinese movie to be selected for competition in Cannes Film Festival and won the "Technical Grand Prize". Tomson Films Co., Ltd. has produced 26 films with numerous awards received. Farewell My Concubine has undoubtedly caught most attention. It was the first Chinese movie to have won the "Palme d'Or" at Cannes Film Festival in 1993. Hsu Feng was also given the "Profession Producer Award" in Cannes for this movie and her great contribution to Chinese film industry. Other awards of this film include The Best Foreign Language Film by US National Board of Review(1993), the Best Foreign Language Film at Golden Globe(1994) and many more. Tomson Films' latest production Shanghai Story won the Best Actress Award in 7th Shanghai International Film Festival.
